Starting a Toe-Up Sock
I'm trying out the Universial Toe-Up Sock Pattern from the latest Knitty (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTuniversalsock.html) using Opal Sock & Sweater Yarn in Rose Hip. Progress so far: one toe, very cute.
The pattern actually starts not at the base of the toe, as I had always assumed a toe-up sock pattern would, but about two inches higher, where the decreasing for a toe would start. It's ingenious, and if I made mistakes (and I did) it wasn't the fault of the pattern, but more of a matter of my brain freezing while my hands kept on doing things.
Last weekend I bought two skeins of Sweet Georgia Superwash Sock in the color Moss. Moss is the most lovely acidic green, with just a little color variation to keep it interesting. If these toe-up socks go well, some green socks are next!

These look great! There is another toe up method on there that I really like . . I think it's Jane's Toe up? I can never remember what it's called, but I love it!
